THE 3 PEAKS

The Calamorro mountain is the easiest route at 5km, the first half of which is on a road through a valley. As the road ends and become slightly less even the route becomes less steep and the path winds around the mountainside. It ends with a short, steep climb to the bird sanctuary that is home to both endangered and magnificent birds of prey. The summit presents panoramic views of Malaga and the surrounding areas and can be reached in just over an hour.

The Mijas Mountain (Pico de Mijas) has a fairly steady incline throughout its 7km route.

The route itself is on a road which leads to the communication towers at the summit, despite this there is still a chance to see wild deer crossing your path. And the views are something else on this 3 hour round trip.

The La Concha Mountain is both the longest (11km), tallest (1221 metres) and most difficult of walks, taking some 6 hours to complete the round trip. It begins from the Refugio de Juanar in Ojen. And the walk starts with a meandering walk through a pine forest. This path soon disappears and we begin walking on rocks, coming across a narrow verge at the Salto del Lobo (Wolf´s Jump). Another ascent brings us to the narrow spine of the Concha before we finally reach the summit. Where stunning views of the Coast, Gibraltar and even North Africa can be taken in.

Fitness Levels: In order to take part and complete these walks you should already be doing some kind of regular cardio exercise. The aim of the challenge is to complete all walks within a day.
